Some of them are innocent townsfolk; indeed, the town makes us the majority of the players. In every town though, there are troublemakers: the Mafia. Sometimes, there are even more than one Mafia groups in a town. There might even be a brainwashing Cult going round. Oh, and then there are those people who only look out for themselves. The Individuals, you might call them. Mafia has a simple premise: the town must eliminate all those who are Mafia/Cult-aligned and then they win. The catch? Well, the Mafia get to kill one person each night, and the Cult can brainwash people to join their cause. Oh, and there might be a Serial Killer who can wipe out a few people too.
The Town aren't defenseless, though: often, certain roles come with an added bonus ability, that can be used in a "Night" Phase, or a "Day" Phase. These abilities aren't exclusive to the town though, as some of the bad guys might have them too. They can be a help or a hinderance (albeit mainly a help, or it'd just be too unfair >_>) to the town; use it well and you could aid the town. Use it wrongly, and you could end up having the finger of blame pointed on you.
During the "Day" phase, everyone is allowed to vote on who they wish to see "lynched", under the suspicion of being a Mafia. Once a majority of over 50.0% has been reached, that person is lynched and eliminated from the game; their identity and alignment (Town, Mafia, Cult or Individual) is revealed and then we head in to the "Night" phase (if the town decides to lynch no-one, the day passes after a set amount of time and night falls). This is when the Mafia can choose who they wish to kill; other actions that can be used in the night are also eligible to be activated at this point.
The game progresses until one side wins; for the Mafia, it's a case of trying to avoid being detected as Mafia long enough to win the game. The Town have the hinderance of not knowing who each other is (unlike the Mafia) and therefore have to try and work it out by people's actions. If you want to read up more, then here's the full Wiki entry, which explains things much better than I probably just did. But I thought I'd have a go at doing it myself. Wiki on Mafia.
I'm looking for a MAXIMUM 26 people to join this, so...yeh. Sign up and we'll see how many we get. Or don't and this will die. But then I'll be angwy. Vewy vewy angwy.
RULES
1 - There is no discussing allowed outside of the thread, unless your role PM tells you that this is allowed (and only then is it with the people who you are told are available to talk with). I request that you be honest and stick to this, for the sake of the game experience. God, that doesn't make me sound good. If I catch you doing this, then you are immediately lynched out of the game.
2 - Once you are dead, you stay dead, and may not participate until the game is over. You may also not advise the remaining players on what to do - besides, to prevent cheating, I will not provide the dead with any additional information than they were if they were still alive. Of course, I'm willing to listen to your theories as to what's going on. Likewise, I'd appreciate if those not taking part try not help those playing.
3 - Under NO circumstances are you allowed to post your role PM in full. Feel free to paraphrase, reveal your identity (it doesn't have to be real, of course...), just don't post the thing in full (or like, take a word out and then post it. Use your judgment, we're all smart here. Yes, even you Thinga. >_>. <3)
4 - You don't have to post as your characters (unless your role PM tells you to do so) and in some cases this might help - but even so, I would like a degree of participation. If you're not active two day phases in a row, without telling me, I'll seek out a replacement for your role.
5 - Voting in a day phase for the lynch vote should take the following form: LYNCH VOTE - (Player Name). That includes the bold, so people know. If you wish to change your vote, then post UNVOTE - (Player Name), CHANGE VOTE - (Player Name). Finally, for a no-lynch, simply post LYNCH VOTE - NO LYNCH.
6 - Have fun. But bicker, be bitches, but everyone has to hold hands and sing Cum-Ba-Yah at the end, so you know.
Any other questions, PM me. Feel free to do so during the game, as well. The first night (which takes place in Sequesterville) starts once I've sent out all PMs.
